For the Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost, the Bubbas are watching Pharaoh and his soldiers trying to swim (they didn't do so well) and cogitating on the gospel. This is a strange business sometimes. Guest musicians are Netzerim performing a traditional Hebrew setting of Exodus 15, Horse and Rider.

Dang, Delmer! “You don’t liberate some oppressors without some oppressors getting killed.” That struck me deeply!!! Makes me think of Christ’s way of suffering in order to set people free. In one theological model this can work - as Christ takes on the sins of the world he is not only the suffering servant/victim but also the ultimate oppressor. I need to wrestle those words for a long while.
